Women's Refuge Christmas collection

Community and charity work

Lois and the team supports a number of local and national charities, and is keen to raise money.

Raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust

On Friday 19th October 2018, Lois handed over the donations made by herself and the LG Fitness team to a local women’s refuge.

Three weeks prior to this, Lois called upon Northumbria Police for information on local women’s refuges, Lois had an initial idea of making Christmas boxes with the LG girls to donate this year. Lois visited a refuge in particular one Friday morning and was absolutely stunned at how little this refuge had been donated over the years and how little money they had to spend. There was more to be done than sending a Christmas gift.

Over the course of three weeks Lois allocated each LG member a brand new item to buy, this consisted of Ladies PJs, underwear, socks, sanitary products, hygiene essentials, children’s PJs, nappies, baby wipes, baby milk… the list goes on and it’s fair to say that every single item was covered.

Over 100 brand new items had been purchased and a lot of used clothing and shoes were also donated. Brand new toys were donated so that each child had something of their own.

All items were collected, checked, labelled and boxed up in Lois’ house until the drop off day.

When Lois had arrived, they were told by a member off staff that they had just had two new admissions within five minutes of each other that day. They had arrived with nothing, but were very excited to go through our donations and put a starter pack together for them.

LG Fitness ladies

Working with our local comprehensive school

Every Monday and Thursday from September 2023

LG Fitness will be working in Kingsmeadow school to deliver strength and fitness classes to year groups 9 & 10 girls in after school clubs.

As part of the funding for RISE the school are looking to increase participation for girls in sport.

This after school club is FREE, Lois is the instructor, with over 10 years experience in the industry.

LG fitness stands by its brand and wants everyone to feel empowered and strong, seeing exercise as a way to develop good habits and improve their quality of life in the future.
As fitness experts, what we say and post is extremely important, but more importantly needs to be truthful and educational.

In a 2023 study, researchers found that nearly two-thirds of the 100 most popular fitness influencer accounts promoted unhealthy or unrealistic body shapes. These unrealistic standards of perfection and sometimes heavily edited and filtered images – can lead to feelings of inadequacy and a negative body image.

Teenagers are extremely effected by such posts, so we strongly believe that by educating and developing positive body image, will reduce negative and anxious personality traits.
We also want to encourage the students knowledge and understanding about what their bodies are capable of and for them to embrace their bodies, regardless of shape or size.
